The Spanish Pos'e in detail

I never really thought about doing a post talking about who's who in the pos'e until now. Most of them go to DCMST (which basically means they're very smart) and lifeguards!

Andrew G: A 6' 5" senior who is my partner in crime! We both sit the farthest back in all of the group so we throw pieces of paper at them while we're bored. He's really crazy and fun to be around! He also happens to go to lifeguards.

Matt M: Another tall guy at 6'3" he's extremely intelligent for a Junior! He gets a little too competitive with the card games but he's cool most of the time. He's very funny and goes to lifeguards when he can.

Emma: is a Junior and she knows every card game there is to know! She's really good friends with Matt. She gets caught in the cross fire when we have battles between Andrew, me, Rory and Emily. She usually beats me at paper football and goes to lifeguards as well.

Rory: She's surprisingly very strong for a Sophomore and her size! She got the nickname "Snory Rory" because she was always tired! She's a big time athlete, she does basketball, swimming, and softball! She gets really mad at me at times. She and Emma talk about swim team drama a LOT!

Emily: She's A Junior and a major book worm! Most of this semester she's had her face in a book which is really lame! When she isn't reading she helps me get Rory's blood boiling by passing Rory's folders back and forth between us.

Matt R: He's the new guy in the pos'e. He started hanging out with us a month or 2 ago and he's pretty cool. He's in the theater so he tells us about theater drama. I believe he's a Junior

Kelsey: She's a Sophomore and is very smart! She's really close friends with Rory and are always talking to her about people that they don't like. She kind of balances Rory out so that she doesn't hurt me so bad. Thanks Kelsey!

I am 17!!

Today I'm 17 years old for the first time in my life! I get to end school an hour early today! I'm still not sure if I want to workout today, I haven't really planned a workout yet. We usually let the person pick their favorite restaurant to eat at on their birthday. I'm definitely going to Buffalo Wild Wings! Today in Spanish we're only watching a movie so I'm going to be talking with my friends all hour!

It's really nice when it's your birthday because everyone who loves you either texts you or facebook you! You feel very special for pretty much doing nothing but surviving! When the doctor says push he's talking to your mom in labor! That's mom, for pushing out this big headed baby!

One more day!

I'm currently 6,208 days old today. If you don't want to do the math that means I'm 16 years and 364 days old. One more day until I'm officially 17! This year it really snuck up on me. Just a few days ago I was like "Hey my birthday is in a week!".

I didn't really know what I wanted until I saw this video game called "Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All Stars". T.V.C is very similar to the game Super Smash Bros, which if you know me at all you know that I LOVE that game! Tatsunoko vs Capcom is where 2 companies combine for a game and have their characters face off! While I don't really know any of these characters at all due to them all being made in Japan, I checked out a bunch of reviews and they all said that you get used to the characters fast! It's only 2 players but it still looks amazingly fun! Well that's all I've got to say so, later!

Let The Games Begin!

This Sunday, May 2nd Dearborn Christian church is going to have a football game. It's between the high school guys and the younger married guys in their twenties and thirties. They try to have a game every season of the year but they skipped winter this year. I've been in 3 football games with the lifeguards so far 1 in the winter, and 2 in the fall (one was where it was only the lifeguards).

In the winter game I didn't really know anyone or their skills yet so I struggled a bit. The snow kept me from catching up to the quarterback and basically kept me out of the game. The next game was at the fall retreat where it was all lifeguards and no older guys. I was MVP due to me being the strongest and biggest of the guys there. About 2 weeks after that game we had the one against the younger geezers. I didn't do the best in that game defensively, just pressuring the quarterback, with no sacks. Since most of the guys in the youth group are 6-3 and 150 lbs I'm the biggest at 6-0 205 lbs.

This year I'm going to be in the 2nd full day of being 17 years old, I'm much stronger than I was in the fall, and I'm really hungry for this game! Here are some of my lifting numbers...
Preacher Curl : February 28th, max 25 lbs. April 27th, max 50 lbs. (per arm)
Dumbbell pressing: February 28th, max 55 lbs. April 27th, max 85 lbs. (per arm)
Tricep machine: February 28th, max 100 lbs. April 27th, max 140 lbs.
Frontal rows: February 28th, max 50 lbs. April 27th, max 105 lbs

Darn it!

As excited as I am about prom I'm still not too happy about spending the $60 to get in! I have enough but just the idea of losing $60 isn't too welcome in my head. Bye bye my presidential buddies :(

The Good Old Days: The Deep voice that couldn't

My best friend Michael and I were in 6th grade and all was good! We had the same voice, height, and humor. Then Michael had to hit puberty! Let me tell you Michael hit it in stride! In one week he grew nearly a foot, and his voice went extremely deep. Along with that Michael was a whole lot faster than me (he was only a little faster than me at that point) and except for strength, he was physically better than just about everything than me! It was really hard getting use to for both of us. We use to race after church a bit. After he smoked me like 10 times in a row we decided to stop racing.

We would also have to sing for the kids program. The one time I didn't envy his voice was when we were singing. Our songs always had a bunch of high notes. I was hitting them with ease, but then I notice this one horrible sound next to me. It was Michael who was STRAINING to attempt to get near the high notes! I couldn't help laughing my head off! Michael soon realised that I was laughing with him and not at him so he started cracking up too! Soon the whole crowd was in tears laughing with us!

It took me till 8th grade to get my deep voice and I soon found out how hard it was to hit those high notes so Michael and I struggled together!

The past couple of days...

This week has been pretty good overall. I decided to run my week by you in this post because you know how my life is just SO amazing!

Monday
I didn't do too much on Monday in school (which I'm now regretting). In Spanish we just talked and played cards, the usual. Hit the gym with my buddy Andrew, I maxed out benching 85 lbs dumbbells, I wanted to focus on the back for this workout. I found out soon enough that Andrew hasn't worked out his back in forever! Needless to say, we spent an hour doing vigorous back workouts.

Tuesday
I woke up with a serious pain in my back from the workout before. I went crazy in school on Tuesday due to my slacking the day before. Spanish was the same where all we did was talk and play cards. I Had to walk home alone to my disappointment. Hunter and I attacked some neighborhood girls with some water balloons!

Wednesday
I worked on science for an hour then we headed to green field village on a field trip! We had a lot of fun at green field village and I had fun gloating to my friends in my Spanish class too! I brought some crackers for Rory because she expects me to bring her food every time we go out to eat. Andrew and I had a killer workout where we would do 20 reps of a lower weight to try to get more "cut". After working out I went to lifeguards which was really fun!

Michigan Spring football Game

This Saturday Hunter, me, and my dad went to Michigan's spring game. It was cold but we still had a bunch of fun! There were some real surprises during the game that went different from last week's scrimmage. This is going to be pretty brief due to my post last week about Michigan's practice.
Offense
  • Denard Robinson is now fully capable to be the full time starter at Michigan! He threw a 97 yard touchdown pass to Roy Roundtree the ball was thrown about 30 yards. Robinson has impressed me so much that I'm hoping that he, not Tate Forcier, starts at quarterback.

  • Devin Gardner threw a bomb! He's got a cannon! I really can't wait till this guy is an upper class man and shredding defenses! He looks like the real deal!

  • Tate Forcier is a serious risk taker! He showed that scrambling ability that we all know and love. He didn't blow me away or disgust me.

  • Roy Roundtree showed some play making! While Roy found some holes in the defense, he did drop some balls.

  • Jeremy Gallon and Greg Odoms were making some really good plays! Odoms did drop a perfect pass though.

  • The Offensive Line is going to be good come fall. Redshirt freshman Taylor Lewan at left tackle is a freaking' beast!!

    Defense

  • Jonas Mouton was a physical beast during the spring game. He was flushing the quarterback out of the pocket.

  • The run defense is really good! There weren't any long runs besides for a 15-20 yard touchdown run by Mike Cox.

  • The secondary was really bad. The main blown assignments were due to players who aren't likely to play that much in the fall. Cameron Gordon had an off day on Saturday but still was pretty solid.

  • J.T. Turner was non-existent at corner back he probably needs to move to safety. He's gained 20 lbs of muscle and is still adjusting to his new weight.
  • Big Will Campbell is a big bear in the middle of the defense! He is going to be a force to be reckoned with come fall.

    Overall

  • The Offense looked good! The quarterbacks need to stay in the pocket a little longer. I really hope that our run offense will be better by fall.

  • There were too many balls on the ground! Fumbles and drops were way too plenty!

  • Tackling wasn't as good this week as it was last week.

  • There's no doubting that the defense and OL is going to be better than last years.

The Lifeguards Dinner

The Lifeguards plan this HUGE fundraiser dinner. It's not only a dinner but also an auction. It took a whole lot of time and effort to set it up but it was finally was ready! We had to dress in nice clothes (to my disappointment) so I kind of felt uncomfortable during the whole dinner. I was wearing nice clothes from 4:30 to 10:00! I wanted to go hulk on these clothes till I'm just wearing shorts! The dinner helped me bond with some people who only had been attending lifeguards a couple of weeks.

I was wearing some dress shoes that I got in 8th grade for a purity convention. I realised that I only had wore them for that moment! My feet were in so much pain! Half way through the dinner Marah and I had to go get some pizza's for some middle schoolers. Since we were about to walk into little Cesar's in dress clothes she thought we should pretend like we're a couple. We did for a while but then when we heard we had to wait 10 minutes for the pizza, we just dropped the idea. Oh and Brad owes me $20! Overall it was a lot of work and fun!

Its at Times like these I'm Happy to be a Dude!

Thinking about this prom thing makes me really glad I'm a guy! I don't have to worry about makeup, dresses, hair (in comparison to a girl), and I'm not worried about making this the best day of my life. Though maybe I'm not worried because it's not MY prom but still girls take this more serious than guys. While yes I do have to pay for the tickets which do cost some serious $$ but girls have it a lot worse. They have to get their makeup done, their hair professionally done, their dress has to be perfect! While us guys have it easy! We just make sure our hair is good (which for me it takes about 3 minutes) and just make sure we don't totally embarrass our date. We also have to pick a tux which I don't really see what's the big deal because to us guys they all look the same! If it fits then it's good enough for me!

Being a junior helps too! I don't have to plan out really anything! I just need to smile for the pictures....Cheese! My mom wants me to study how a tux can match the dress of the date but I still don't quite see it.

hmmm I think there's a connection here

On Monday we had a substitute in Spanish class. Which obviously means that the pos'e is going to be playing cards the whole hour! Well this time it was most of the pos'e with Andrew gone and Rory doing some homework. We played "yuk er" and it was a whole lot of fun! Well due to Rory and I being in separated by doing different things she didn't hit me at all that day. It is very very very uncommon that Rory doesn't hit me! So this was a shocker to me so I just counted my blessings and walked home.

Later that afternoon I was on facebook where one of my friend's status said "Won the softball game thanks to Rory's grand slam!" So I took this in for a minute. Then I came to the conclusion that she must have used all of that anger that she usually dishes out on me, on the ball! On Tuesday I told Rory my hypothesis about how she either hits the ball or me hard. She thought that was stupid and started hitting me. She said it didn't matter how well she hit because there was practice. The next day I came up to her and asked how well she hit at practice. She said they were fielding all of practice and no one batted. My hypothesis is still strong!!

Prom??

Yesterday after school there was a knock at the side of the door. Walking to the side door I'm wondering who would knock on the side door because we don't live on a corner. I open the door and I'm really surprised to see Marah who goes to my youth group lifeguards and we go to the same school. Last semester we would talk in the hallway on our way to classes. She lives a couple of blocks away from me but I expected that if she came over she'd text me first. At first I think she's just asking for a ride to lifeguards but then I noticed she was really nervous and just kind of making small talk. Then she gave me a card and said "Well I'll go now."

I look at the card and it says "Connor, will you go to prom with me? -Marah" It was good that she gave me some time to decide because I wasn't sure if I could go. My family and I are going to Florida on may 23rd. Well prom is on May 23rd. So we're going to be one day late so that I can go to prom. It seemed like it took me forever just to communicate to her that I could go because her phone didn't have any bars so I had to repeat everything twice.

Now I've never actually been to a dance! In middle school I thought that girls were icky. In high school I never really cared for dances. Why would I PAY to dress in a suit! I'm super excited about prom, but I also feel the urge to upchuck! Luckily since it's Marah's prom she can do all the planning and all that poop. I'm just going to show up, look good, and do whatever Marah wants. What's really ironic is that I was asked probably about a month ago whether I'd even go to my own prom because they found out that I haven't gone to a dance. I honestly didn't know what I'd do. "If someone asked me I'd probably go" was my response. I didn't expect to be asked for at least another year!

P.S. Sorry for the picture, it's hard to find something manly when it comes to prom.

Spring Break Is Over!

Sadly the best spring break during the life of Connor has ended. It seemed like it lasted 2 or 3 weeks but like everything amazing, it ended. On a positive note my workout buddy Andrew M got back from Spain! Yesterday we worked together for the first time in about 2 weeks! We frontal rows to start off which will feel like there's a knife in your shoulder when it's your first time doing it. This was Andrew's first time! I really like this workout because while it works your shoulder's and back really good, it also works out your arms! Another plus is that I can actually see the results of it! My shoulders look more firm!

Well I had planned to totally make Andrew do these until he couldn't lift his arms to drink water! Unfortunately he had to go after an hour and a half of pumping the iron! We ended up spending 45 minutes on the Frontal rows. I'm sore today so that means I definitely made use of those 45 minutes! After that we did some abs and had to get going home. As sore as I am now, I know that Andrew probably wants to cut off his shoulders just to stop the pain! I can't wait to see him after school!

Michigan Spring Football Practice

This past Saturday my dad and I went to one of Michigan's spring practices. It was a lot of fun! At one point, Devin Gardner lost his mouth guard and my dad threw it to him.
During another part of the day, I had to go to the bathroom really bad but I couldn't find it. So I see this guy who looked familiar and asked him where Bathroom was. He told me where it was so that was helpful. But I wanted to know who he was, so after I got home, I opened up a Michigan football magazine. In the front of the page it was him! It said : David Brandon Michigan Athletic Director. So I basically asked the guy with the most power in Michigan sports where the bathroom was! That's completely normal. Here's some of what I learned.

Offense
  • Denard Robinson's arm has definitely improved! You can see this with how the defense acts around him in the pocket! The defense respects his arm and with good reason!

  • Michael Shaw looked really good! He was really slashing in through holes! I originally didn't think he'd end up being as good as his high school ranking, but he looks like a starter!

  • Stephen Hopkins is a really good power back! Except for a fumble, Hopkins did everything that was asked of him!

  • Fitzgerald Toussaint has great vision and patience. I wouldn't start him over Shaw, but he's still only a redshirt freshman.

  • Tate Forcier didn't throw a deep ball (longer than 15 yards) the whole time I was there.

  • Roy Roundtree showed his ability to get open on several occasions! He did drop a couple of balls though.

  • A new receiver, Jeremy Gallon, looked phenomenal in practice. He showed his agility while he was darting in between defenders.

  • Devin Gardner showed that he can throw the deep ball and can scramble! He did make some mistakes but he is the real deal!

  • The offensive line is very good at making a pocket for a quarterback.

Defense!

  • Obi Ezeh can really smack the brains out of people when he wants to!

  • The secondary didn't seem like a problem.

  • The defense is a force to be reckoned with! This 3-3-5 strategy is the real deal! There's a bunch of gang tackling going on!

  • With big Will Cambell in the center at nose guard it stops people from running straight at us! The offense struggled getting anything done until the defense got a little more tired.

  • Cameron Gordon is a ball hawk! This move to safety was a great choice!
  • The defense is good at stopping the run.

  • The secondary has amazing open field tackling!

  • Tackling was amazing! I was there for an hour and a half of scrimmaging and there was only 1 or 2 miss tackles!

  • This is all without DT Mike Martin.

Spring Arbor

You may or may not know that I'm a junior in high school. I'm rounding the end of my junior year so I'm visiting some colleges. I went to spring arbor during break last week. My old time bud Michael K came along with me. Michael and I went to the gym, where all the high school Juniors are suppose to meet at. There were only about 20 people there at that time, with all of these old board games that we played as little kids. We sat at a table with a couple of people and just started a conversation about random stuff about ourselves. There was this really cute girl at our table and I could tell that Michael liked her because he was playing this mind game with her! He would switch from sarcasm and serious talk with every other sentence and soon she was super confused. I have to take my hat off toward Michael he was GOOD!

So after about an hour of talking with our group we played a game called "ice breaker". Where there was a list of 30 things and you had to find someone that had done 1 of the things on the list. I honestly went to the best looking girls to ask them if they had done any of the 30 activities on the list and it was a pretty good strategy! I ended up coming in 3rd. After the games we met our host of where we were going to spend the night at. His name was Steve and he was pretty cool.

Michael and I decided that we were gonna go to McDonald's after we got settled in our room. Now let me tell you some important information, it was about 20 degrees and windy outside but I was wearing shorts and McDonald's is on the other side of the campus! Michael and I were kinda sprinting. When we got there we just started talking about what's been happening with the each other lately.

Unfortunately, Michael and I went out to dinner too early! All of the other juniors were on campus while we were at McDonald's so when we got back they all went out to eat! So we played ping pong, and air hockey whenever we got bored! We didn't really do anything that evening. We mainly just caught up on each others lives. We stayed up till 2 that morning!

When we woke up at 7:30 we got all ready for breakfast and packed up all of our stuff. We went to breakfast with Steve (our host) and then headed off to the "White auditorium". That's where we were reunited with Bill, he was at our table in the gym and he was really cool. We asked him if he wanted to go to lunch with us later and he loved that idea because he didn't have a friend there.

From the auditorium we went to chapel where I met a girl named Alex. We were sitting next to each other and just talking about our youth groups and where we're from. She really looked like one of my friends from elementary who's name happened to be Lexi. We both kind of hit it off and had a really great conversation. Then the worship music came on and followed closely by the chaplain coming with his sermon. Near the end of the sermon I was debating whether to ask for this girl's number, or to just ask for her full name so I could find her on facebook. my plan was that I'd go first with the name, then I'd see how her reaction was then I'd ask her for her number. Well we are getting ready to leave and I ask her for her name, she said "Alex". Then I clarified that I meant last name then she told me a really common last name. That was when I decided to ask her for her number but then... my sister came over! Now I was slowly backing off the idea then Alex's mom came! Then the idea was about half way around the world!

So after that Michael, Bill and I went to lunch. Well thinking ahead I decided I'd sit across from them so that wouldn't be someone left out of the conversation. Well that ended up being a decision that I regretted! Apparently there was a cute girl right behind me sitting alone for like 5 minutes until her friends came to sit next to her! Michael and Bill let me know that, AFTER her friends came to sit next to her! Oh well, after that Michael and I went to our classes.

Our first class that we sat in was physics which wasn't too confusing or anything it seemed really interesting in fact! While I enjoyed the physics class the stats class was BORING! It seemed kinda easy but boring!

Nothing really happened the rest of the visit.

Spring Break!!!

Today is the last day of school until spring break, my initial thought was "yeah this is gonna be great!" but after I thought about it for a while I realised that "I'm not going to be learning my curriculum at max speed!" HAHA are you kidding me?!?!?! I don't care about learning! What I care about is freedom! A whole week of nothing but working out and hanging out with friends! One down side is that my workout buddy Andrew, is going to be in Spain the whole break so we're not going to be working out together for a while. I can push myself hard it's just having a spot can really help me out especially when benching. I'm planning on playing some more laser tag, biking around the city, and hitting subway sometime!

2 more words....

APRIL FOOLS!!
