Maxing OUT!!

Yesterday my friend Andrew and I worked out at the civic center. We started with the preacher curls (toughest curl invented). We decided to do ladders, so we both started at 30 lbs but he went down, while I went up in weight. He went down from 30 to 25 and to 20 then went right back up. I went up from 30 to 35 to 40 to even 45 lbs!! I did 8 total reps of 45 lbs while Andrew maxed out with 5 reps of 35 lbs.

After we couldn't feel our biceps we went to do some benching. I've been really loving benching because my numbers have been exploding! Just a week from this day I hadn't benched more that 60 lbs on each arm! Now today I'm totally pumped for this moment but I can feel my arms slowing down. I started low with 55 lbs. I did 10 reps of 55, 60, 65, and 70 lbs! Now let me tell you since I'm changing the weight a lot Andrew and I are walking around to the rack with these weights which are killing our energy!

Until this moment I've been feeling really strong! Even though I can feel when I start the rep that my biceps are dying I'm still doing sets of 10! I feel really strong but I know soon my muscles are going to collapse so I tell Andrew that he's gonna have to keep an eye on me. Sure enough my first rep was barely accomplished without his help! With him spotting me I was able to do 3 reps of 75 lbs! In one week I've benched 15 lbs more than was I could do!

Lazer tag is AweSOme!

On Friday I was really bored just watching TV when I got a call! Let me tell you, I don't get calls from anyone except my mom and dad! The call was from Liz, my first thought was that it was one of her friends calling one of her friends on her phone. Surprisingly it actually was Liz. "Hey you want to go to zap zone with Collette and me to play some laser tag?" I said that would be cool and we started to call/text a bunch of our friends to see if they wanted to join us. Well no one else could go due to the short amount of time till we were going. They asked me if I wanted to drive myself or want them to pick me up. I said it'd be nice if they could pick me up so that we can talk more and not have some of us waiting for the other people to get there.

When they first picked me up, I was starting to regret going because they were laughing like crazy at a bunch of inside jokes that I was not apart of. After a while though they soon realised that I need to know what the heck they're talking about so they slowed down with the inside jokes. I also needed to kind of lower my vocabulary with them because when I'd joke about something with them they didn't get it! For example I told Collette "Wow Collette your a whole lot more shy at lifeguards than with just Liz!" and they didn't even understand that!

After a while we soon hit "even" ground where I used easier to understand words and jokes while they cut the inside jokes! When we finally got there we were deciding how the teams were going to be. Well I decided that I was going to be on the red team with all the elementary aged kids and they both would be on the stacked teenager blue team! I quickly regretted picking the red team because the kids didn't seem to know that if someones vest is RED and yours is RED then you're on a TEAM! After getting shot with friendly fire like 5 times I quickly ran away from my team and looked around to collect my thoughts.

That is when I realised all of the blue vests around me! I had somehow ran right past the blue team and into their base! I took advantage of this right away by shooting them all in the back. I got about 10 kills until they realised that there was a red "guy" in their base. Even though they would send 3 or 4 guys after me I'd still kill them all and every once in a while I'd die. I had 2 hide outs and would switch out of them constantly and the blue team was so confused! I ran into Liz and Collette constantly but they didn't really stop me that often. I liked lying on my back to prevent them from seeing me that well it was a strategy that kept my score soaring!

After the game I felt really good about the score knowing that I totally maimed the blue team! I look at the score board and somehow I cant find me! They must've forgot the put me up there because I ended up getting my score sheet and wow it tells you how great of a game I had! Now there were 24 people there so these aren't gimmicks. Liz had "first" with 29,000 while on my score sheet it said I am rank "0/24" which made no sense to me so I looked at my score. I had 51,000 points!! My team won 170,00 to blue teams score of 140,000 so without me they would've lost! I won the kill to death ratio on all of blue team's players there was this one guy who I had 18 kills and 6 deaths!

After comparing scores Liz and Collette were whispering about something. They told me that this one guy in a huge group of dudes looks like a guy named Zack from school but they don't know if it's him or not! After I let them try to figure the best way to ask him for about 15 minutes I went up to him and asked him if he was Zack! Liz and Collette couldn't believe that I did that!

All in all I had a bunch of fun! I give all of my success in laser tag to the neighborhood kids who have recently been having a lot of Nerf wars! Thanks for the training guys!

My Spanish class is the best!

Yesterday while we were in Spanish class, we got this worksheet that had a classroom with a bunch of kids doing different things like sleeping, reading, etc. It all started when there was a guy named "Andre" well Andrew was next to me and so we were drawing on him. We were giving him a hat and other cool stuff then I decided I was the guy next to him and we drew me throwing pieces of paper at "Rory". Rory was the girl sleeping and she got a "D" on a test. Emily was next to her with a book. We made Matt and Emma the too people talking to each other. By the end of it all we all were someone in the picture! I'm gonna miss this semester.

Wow who knew?

As I've told you previously on Friday I benched with dumbbells of 60 lbs a total of 37 times (not all in one set). On Monday my dad and I went on a total pectoral workout! We did shoulder press, bench press, dips, and triceps! Well yesterday I was working out with my friend Andrew M and I benched 65 lbs dumbbells (each arm) 51 total times! I can't wait to increase the weight! I feel like my muscles are exploding! I also was curling 40 lbs while sitting on a bench (reduces momentum)!

It's amazing how one workout can really increase your strength!

Sweet Revenge!

Last week on Wednesday Rory was sitting next to me in Spanish class. I kept stealing her stuff and getting her mad at me. To get back at me she tried to steal my pencil, but I had a good enough grip so that she couldn't take it, but she wouldn't let go. Now I knew that very soon she was going to try to yank it from my hand so while she wasn't paying attention I put the pencil (that she was still hold) under the desk and... *WHAM!* I slammed the pencil into the bottom of the desk! Boy was she mad! She started taking it out on my shoulder and forearm by hitting it as fast and as hard as she could. Even Andrew took her side! He was chanting "Hit him Rory! Teach him a lesson!". My arm was red for several hours.

If you know me at all you know that I never let things pass without getting even. I was thinking about how I could get her back when I thought, "How can I use her actions yesterday, against her?" Then it came to me! If you've seen my post about spring hill you know I have some "eye black" from my football days that I call war paint. Last time I used it I made a beard, this time I made a fake bruise! It was maybe like 20 minutes before class when I finally got it right! It was on my forearm right where she hit me and I have to give myself some props it looked really good!

As soon as I got in the room I told Andrew what my plan was. Well Rory walked up to me at the beginning of class to talk to us and she was laughing about how she abused my arm yesterday. Then I showed her my "bruise" and said "Rory, look at what you DID to me!!" Her face went from Joking sarcasm to pure horror as she looked at the nasty bruise she gave me!

She was like "Oh my gosh! There's no way... I'm SO sorry Connor! I didn't mean to hurt you that bad!" She was on the verge of tears when I told her that it was fake and it was so funny! She ended up hitting me a couple more times.

Ahh sweet revenge! Don't ever listen to those stupid guru's! Revenge is another word for Justice!

Call Of Duty Reflex

I got the game "Call of Duty Modern Warfare Reflex" for Christmas and I've been really well satisfied with the game. This game is a copy of Call of duty Modern Warfare that came out 2 years ago for PS3 and Xbox 360. While it's graphics aren't as good as the PS3 or 360 version it's pretty decent for the Wii. I'm happy that it has everything that the other versions had unlike call of duty world at war where there were no zombies and half of the maps.

Besides for the graphics I am extremely happy with this game. I would highly recomend this game to anyone with just a wii. If they have a 360 or PS3 then get Modern Warfare 2.

X-treme workout yesterday!

Yesterday I was bored and I try to workout when I'm bored, so that I make good use of my time. I hadn't done cardio lately so I grabbed my jump rope and started. After 1,000 jumps I thought that I could definitely do some more so I did another 1,000 jumps. When I got to 2,000 jumps I still had some more in me and did 110 more so I finished after 45 minutes with 2,110 jumps!

Right after the cardio I went to workout my abs with this one workout where you lie on your back and have a ball in between your legs and pass it to your arms and back to your legs. That workout is a KILLER and after 140 of those I finally was done and man was I DONE! That was a good switch up workout because I did cardio and abs instead of the usual lifting. Though it definitely isn't as satisfying as pulling out the guns, it has it's perks.

Results of working out for 3 weeks

When I started working out at the civic center I would do 10 curls of 35 lbs while sitting on a bench. Now I do 6 curls of 35 lbs on the preacher curl (a whole lot harder). I started benching dumbbells of 50 lbs in sets of 10 and finished up with a total of 40 reps. Now I can do a set of 15 with 60 lbs and a total of 37 times. I maxed out on triceps at 110 lbs when I began, now I max out at 140 lbs.

It's really awesome to see results in both looks and on paper how I'm getting stronger.

Offensive Football Recruiting 2011

I know I haven't been posting much about football recently because I have an amazing life! I'm posting right now a pretty brief post for the most part. I'll put down skill rank, interest rank, and order them by position. All rankings are out of 5.

Quarterback:
While Michigan no longer is in serious need of a quarterback rich rod likes to grab a quarterback every year. Don't expect Michigan to grab a top quarterback this year.

Braxter Miller: at 6-2 and 185 lbs Miller is one of the top quarterbacks in the nation. Pretty much considered a lock for Ohio State.
Skill rank 4.5, interest rank 2.

Kevin Sousa: He's 6-2, 213 lbs and probably the best combination of skill and interest in Michigan. Michigan has been rumored the leader but that could change with an offer from Alabama.
Skill 3.5, interest 3.

Running Back:
This year running back isn't in too much need but Michigan can't have enough star running backs on the roster.

Demetrius Hart: at 5-9 165 lbs Hart doesn't look like much of a threat but he's a hardcore running back with a whole lot of skill! Hart once was considered a lock for Michigan but that soon changed when he heard that Rich rod might not be there next year.
Skill 4.0 interest 3.5.

Jarell Oliver: 5-9 185 lbs. Oliver is an in between the tackles running back breaking tackles with ease. Michigan seems to be in the lead for Oliver after his recent visit to Ann Arbor. Comes from a talent rich school and has connections with some of Michigan's players.
Skill 3 interest 4.

Justice Hayes: 5-10 175 lbs. Hayes grew up a Michigan State fan but he knows that his speed would be best used in Rich Rod's spread offense. He really enjoyed his recent visit to Michigan but is going to wait to see if Michigan is going to do well on the field. I for one and loving the prospect of Michigan having Oliver and Hayes on the same field together with strength and speed.
Skill 3.5 Interest 3.5.

Wide Receivers:
Michigan got a bunch of outside receivers last year and are probably only going to grab 2 or 3 really talented wide outs. With Shawn Conway committed DeAnthony Arnett would be a fabulous addition.

Shawn Conway 6-4 185 lbs has been compared by many to Braylon Edwards! Conway is currently ranked the 2nd best receiver in Michigan only to Arnett. Conway is an unbelievably great at the jump ball. While he isn't a blazer or a great rout runner (which can be fixed) he has amazing hands.
skill 3.5 Interest: Committed.

DeAnthony Arnett 5-11 160 lbs has been long considered the top receiver in the state. He's an efficient rout runner. While Arnett is still considered the top receiver, Conway is in a close second. Arnett had Michigan at one time out of his top 3 now it's changing.
skill 4 Interest 3.5

Prince Holloway 5-10 155 lbs is perfect for the slot of wide receiver. He's a serious blazer from Florida who Rich Rod would definitely make room on the roster for Holloway.
skill 3 interest 4

Offensive Line:
With Michigan only taking 1 linemen last year there's a major need for linemen this year. Luckily for Michigan there are quite a few of O linemen interested in the Wolverines.

Anthony Zettle 6-4 255 lbs is an instate guy who has had Michigan on the top of his list since his recruitment started. The only threat to Michigan is Notre Dame who is getting a visit from Zettle soon.
Skill 4 interest 4

Andre Yruretagoyena (I'm gonna call him toga) is a 6-5 250 lbs beast that would be a great fit in Rich Rod's offense. Toga lives in Arizona and has contact with some of Michigan's players that lived near him. Toga is a nibble lineman who happens to be HUGE!
Skill 3.5 interest 3.5

Christian Westerman is 6-5 266 lbs and is considered the best offensive linemen in the nation! Michigan is in the mix with several big time schools so we're just going to have to wait and watch.
Skill 4.5 interest 3

Let the war begin!

My brother got 2 awesome Nerf guns for Christmas this year. We've developed the habit of grabbing one of the guns and shooting the other at random times during the day. Hunter likes the sniper gun that's got really long range. I like the "recon" that has a faster rate of fire but isn't as good overall. My brother has also gotten several bullets for it so that just makes it more fun finding bullets all over the place. Whenever I run out of bullets I just charge at Hunter and pretend that I have a knife and I stabbed him. He always starts freaking out when I run out of bullets and retreats to our room to lock the door.

It's official!

My family and I finally are going to Florida again! I can't wait till we get there in the end of may. We haven't been there since I was in 7th grade and BALD! I am seriously pumped! It really gives me a good motivation to workout more, to get in swim suit shape. I can workout today for the first time since Wednesday! I can't wait to get back to the gym and do my thing! Today I'm gonna start doing some pull ups with fists in and then out. I really feel the need to get back out there and show my stuff! As soon as my buddy Andrew gets a membership to the civic center I'm going to be going crazy with the weights!

Let the 30 hour famine begin!

Today is the beginning of the 30 hour famine! It started at 7 am let the suffering begin!

Dang a lot can happen in 3 weeks!!

Wow It's really hard to believe how your life can change in 3 weeks! 3 and a half weeks ago I was spending most of my time in my basement playing call of duty. Now I'm in great physical shape! When I first started working out I could barely lift 25 lbs on the preacher curl, now I can do 6 reps of 35 lbs. When I started I could bench on the machine 200 lbs 3 times now I can do that AND 10 reps of 150, 167, and 175 lbs!

I can actually see and feel the results! I now spend an hour at least on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's at the gym. I've been wanting to be more active lately which is good because the weather lately has been great! I've been craving meat every day since I started working out at the gym!

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Well it worked!

I blogged yesterday about how I was going to try to get Andrew M to workout with me. He wants to workout a lot but he doesn't have a membership so he can't go all the time. Well I convinced him to workout with me and DANG, it was a crazy workout! We were originally going to start off at the dead weights but there were a bunch of guys there so we decided to go to the machines.

We started with the benching machine not too hard at 125 lbs and worked our way up. Once again I forgot that Andrew hasn't worked out at all during the off-season when he could only do around 5 reps of 137 lbs. So the whole time I was going up in weight like to 175 lbs and still doing 10 reps while he's at 137 lbs doing his 5 reps. I ended up going up to 200 lbs with 3 reps and he was STILL doing 5 or 6 reps of 137 lbs! I started to go down in the weight to cool down while he's now doing 7 reps on 137 lbs! He was actually doing more reps the longer he was working out! He ended up going to 150 lbs once and did 3 reps but man that guy is durable! I looked up at the clock as we finished and found out that we were benching for 45 minutes!

Andrew really likes to workout his biceps and I do too. So whenever he works out with me I try to workout the biceps good with him. We decided to do the very challenging preacher curl! I started with 30 lbs and Andrew had 20 lbs. After a while we soon realized that this was too easy and moved up in weight to 25 lbs and 35 lbs. That really gave us a burn! We ended up working out the biceps for about 30 minutes.

To fully complete the bicep workout you have to workout the triceps. So that's what we did with the triceps machine we did 70, 80, and 90 lbs. Then we took a short break with the shoulder press which works out both the shoulders and triceps. After a extremely grueling series of lifts at the shoulder press we went right back to the tri's to finish what we started! When we went back to the triceps machine it felt really weird because we were lifting 90 lbs but it felt more like 70 lbs so we ended up going to 120 lb.

By now we our arms feel like they're going to fall right off of us so we decided to call it a day. The whole workout took 2 hours! From 3:50 to 5:58! I'm pretty sore right now but I can't wait to see Andrew today! He's probably dying!
P.S. The picture is from a year and a half ago. So don't go asking where are the results from working out.

If you're a bit confuse....

I've told you about 3 different Andrews....

Andrew W : A freshmen from my computer class that I saved from a bunch of big harry guys.

Andrew M : One of my best friends, known him since 3rd grade. Played football with him for 7 years and we like to workout together.

Andrew G : Probably my closest friend at lifeguards. He's in my Spanish class and is a lot like me only he's a senior.

I hope everything is cleared up.

Civic Center Here We Come!

You probably know this if you've been reading my blog recently that my family has obtained a membership at a gym. The building is called the civic center. I've been spending every moment that I can there lifting weights being a gym rat like myself. It's been a lot of fun these past 2.5 weeks working out. I started out working out with the machines but after a while went with the dead weights.

While I was walking with my friend Andrew M. We go pretty far back, we played football together for 7 years. I talked him into working out with me at the civic center. We finally started working out at 4pm and started with my weakest area, benching. After we were benching for about 20-30 minutes, Andrew started to hint that he wanted to workout the biceps. So I destroyed his biceps by making him do curls of 25 lbs while I lifted 30. We did that for a really long time till he couldn't lift 25 lbs anymore. Then we slowly lowered the weight to fully workout our arms. Then after arms we worked on our triceps. It was a hour and a half workout and it was freakin AWESOME! It was the best workout I had and it was his first in a few months.

Andrew and I worked out on Friday so when I saw him after school on Monday he was STILL sore! He couldn't believe it when I told him that I wasn't sore (partly because I was lifting heavier weights than him) and he told me that he still couldn't fully extend his arms without pain! Man I really wish I could've seen him on Saturday. I'm going to try to talk him into working out with me again today!

The ACT!!

I've got the ACT coming up tomorrow. School has been quite tense since then, while trying learn all I can around the ACT. You probably thought it was me freaking out well your wrong! I got a 23 on the ACT last year so I don't have a doubt that I'll do fine. This is the 3rd time I'm taking the ACT anyway and while I'm a little nervous it isn't too bad but don't tell my mom this. She's freaking out! I'm probably a 6 on the nerves chart (out of 10 with 1 being normal). My mom is a total 10 it's like what if I got a 19 last year then what? My best subject by far is math, last year I got a 28 in math. My greatest upgrade over the year is my english I went from 19 to now being around a 23-25. While I did great in the science section last year I'm a bit nervous because I haven't been doing as great on the practices. Reading isn't hard but I'm just not too great at it because last year I got a 21 or 22. The ACT must stand for Another Connor Torrment.

Fun game during Lifeguards and a great day overall!

Yesterday was overall a really great day! School was all ACT which was great*. Right after school, we went to the civic center to workout and it was fantastic! I usually workout with the machines but this time, I decided to go to the dead weights instead. It really paid off big time! I workout my biceps often and even they are sore! I also worked out my pecs with some benching. After the gym I went in my backyard to do some cardio with a jump rope. After 1,001 jumps I hoped in the shower and left for a fundraising dinner for the lifeguards. After the dinner it was time for lifeguards.

The game today was where everyone had 5 clothes pins and they had to pin them on their clothes. Then you had to grab other people's clothes pins off them and put them on you. The person with the most pin wins! The first game I was doing a good job at grabbing a bunch of clothes pins at one time, but half of them would break. Joy was stealing some of mine, while I was attacking people, without me even knowing! Near the end of the first game I had just grabbed 5 from a couple of girls but as I was putting them on I was getting MAULED by guys running by and taking my pins! I ended the game with 1 pin.

Then we had another round of the game so after everyone was set we started. While I was "dueling" someone a hyper active kid named Conor ran into my leg which caused me to loose feeling in it. So the rest of the game, I'm limping around like a cripple. Well since the girls just mainly stayed in one corner not moving that much and with my limited mobility I decided they would be easy targets... I was wrong.

The girls came up with a great strategy where they would put all of the pins on one sleeve and tuck that arm in really hard and attack with the other arm. Thankfully I'm particularly strong so I would pry their arms from their sides and grab a hand full of pins! After I'd taken most of the girls pins I realized that I missed one who had at least 15 pins! Well this one had the same strategy as the others except for a twist. When I grabbed her arm to take her pins she it the floor and started rolling! After the shock of this wore off of me I kept her from rolling and pulled at her arm. Dang that girl was strong! I nearly pulled her to her feet but she wasn't giving up! Right when I was about to get some pins my bicep gave out due to being tired from the workout earlier. That's when I finally realized that I only had 1 pin left! The other girls were picking my dry during the whole scurry! At this point I realized that I lost the game because I had 12 but I fell down to 1! I ended the game with 4 pins.

After the game I found out that everyone had seen me actually pulling the girl almost to her feet and they were giving her props. She certainly deserved it! I only got one of her's after that.
