Recent Michigan Receivers In the NFL

Former Michigan players Jason Avant, Steve Breaston, and Braylon Edwards have each had their ups and their downs and are each doing pretty good as of now. Braylon Edwards broke a lot of records at Michigan, he was picked in the first round by the Cleavland Browns. He had a pretty good rookie year with around 500 yards in 10 games and just kept getting better and better. He had his first 1000 yard season last year in 07; Surgery slowed him up during the beginning of the 2008 season but he still has over 800 yards in 14 games. Jason Avant was Michigan's next great wide receiver after Edwards, surprisingly he was picked in the 4th round by the Philadelphia Eagles. (many people thought that he was going to be a 2nd round pick.) It's taken Jason Avant a little longer than expected to get use to the speed of the NFL, but now he's picking it up a bit with his first 100 yard game yesterday against the browns. But I bet next year will be a break out season for him. Steve Breaston wasn't as good as many had hoped during his senior season at Michigan. He slipped down to the 4th round where the Arizona Cardinals, during his first season with the Cardinals all he really did was return punts which he did really well. For the 2008 season though Breaston really wanted to become a receiver threat but this was really hard to do because Arizona already had 2 top notched receivers. Even with him being the 3rd string wide out he's still has over 900 yards in 14 games! Arizona has been really surprised with this and now has one of the deadliest pass offense in the League!
